استشهد فنان الكاريكاتير السوري أكرم رسلان تحت التعذيب في المعتقلات السورية بعد أشهر قليلة من اعتقاله، وكان رسلان قد اعتقل في حماة من مكان عمله في 2012-10-2، وانقطعت المعلومات عنه منذ ذلك التاريخ. ووفق معتقل سوري «ف-ي»، فقد استشهد رسلان قبل عامين ونصف تحت التعذيب، حيث تدهورت حالته الصحية ونقل إلى إحدى المشافي، قبل أن يقض فيه، وهو الموعد ذاته الذي كان قد انتشر فيه خبر استشهاده قبل أن يتمَّ تأكيد الخبر بشكل نهائي اليوم. كان رسلان من أكثر فناني الكاريكاتير في سوريا شجاعة، إذ امتازت أعماله بمباشرة كبيرة، في معارضة النظام ورأس الحكم فيه، وكان ينشرها من سوريا عبر صحف ومواقعَ عربية، ووقف مع الثورة السورية منذ يومها الأول، ورسم رسلان أكثر من 300 لوحة واكبت التطورات الأولى التي عرفتها الثورة.

Akram Raslan the Syrian caricature artist had died under torture in Syrian detention centers shortly after he had been arrested. Raslan had been arrested from his work place in 2/10/2012, and no news was heard about him since. According to a Syrian detainee (F-I) .Raslan had died two years ago from torture,when his health status deteriorated and was transferred to a hospital,where he died,and that was the time which had spread then his martyrdom news before it was confirmed eventually today. Raslan was one of Syria's caricature artist most courageous,whom his works was characterized of being very straight forward in opposing to the regime and it's ruling head, which was publicated from Syria through newspapers and Arabic webs,he stood by Syrian revolution from it's first day, and Raslan drawn more than 300 portrays escorted the first developments had known the revolution..
